Pros and cons of Media5-fone Pro VoIP SIP Phone app for iPhone and iPad

Media5-fone Pro VoIP SIP Phone app good for

Although in general it is a good soft phone. - It is not multiple account client but multiple profile as it work with only one account each time. - it does not have STUN support. - Maybe should be a universal app (for iPad also). And yes, it is one of the best for iPhone.
Very Good app. Its worth it. It doesnt rotate on iPad, i think it should. I cant get my iPhone and iPad talking. I hear nothing from the iPad side. But that can be something with asterisk.
Sorry I know this is the German site but being located in Germany I am not able to access the other iTunes store. The software does exactly what I want. I connect to a self-controlled asterisk server, and the RTP using aLaw works fine, I do not have any quality issues, it even sounds better than my Handy. It works also when I am behind a NAT, where the IP-PBX is doing the NAT magic. This is the perfect tool for me when being on the road! Have not tried it over 3G yet I use only via WiFi, but hopefully I will get to do that soon. Tolle Produkt :-D
This review is being written by the director of technology of a competitive local exchange carrier which owns a Metaswitch VP2510 and a pair of ACME Packet net-net 3800s session border controllers - and the quality of the audio that this app pumps up on over-the-top VoIP over the public Internet over 3G (Rogers in Trois-Rivieres, QC) is frankly amazing. The best sip stack from Media5 and the certainly one of the best VoIP/codec/RTP media engines in the world (from Global IP solutions) comes bundled in this new version and is a free upgrade to owners of version 1.x. Frankly amazing. You can just forget all negative comments about version 1. Everything works on 2.0. I notice that VoIP over 3G has far more latency than VoIP over WiFi... All which remains to be solved by Apple is somekind of graceful notification to VoIP over 3G apps so that when you get a call over GSM/HSPA while you are doing VoIP over Internet over 3G, that the app is not just killed right away. How about push notification with a new API for VoIP over 3G Apple ? Please!!!! ***********
It used to work. But now receiver cant hear my voice at all times. Another problem is every time I have to wait around half a minute before hearing the dialing signal. All the other SIP apps Ive been using dont have this issue. Sound quality is really good though. UPDATE: Working alright with VoipRaider now.
I purchased credits with voip.ms and it connected seamlessly. The sound quality us perfect with no lag or echo. This is my first time using voip. Seemed daunting at first but simple once you try it.

Some bad moments

I really like to use my iPad as a Phone with this App together with the common Apple wired headset. 2 Stars is because I can only register 1 SIP account at a time and because of some major bugs.
The app does not work quite good with TCP I have to stop the app several times in order to register
It registers about one out of ten times. It is NOT an iPad app, it is iphone app. I have isip working on my iphone for the same voip account flawlessly. I do know what I am doing. Research before you buy - there is no demo.
It kills the system clicks on the new touch ( keyboard, lock, email). Back to normal after app removal. Not good, disappointed.
App no longer freezes when running in background. System sounds (text alerts, etc) are back. 3G is far from perfect, but works better than other voip apps. Some bugs remain when answering (freezes/doesnt always pick up when answering 3G calls). While trying to answer a wifi call it randomly dialed someone in my contact list and I could hear them and the phone still ringing at the same time, yet couldnt talk or pick up the incoming call. Come on guys, you have a nice app, but this strange behavior is unacceptable. G729 codec (best for 3G) is an extra $10.
The free version of the app works well but only supports a single connection. The PRO version does the same, yes, you can configure multiple providers but it will only listen on one at at time. I bought the PRO version because I want to connect to two at a time without running two separate apps. I would accept setting one as the primary outgoing connection but I want to be able to receive calls from both without reconfiguring the app. The stated requirements are OS 3.0 but it will not run on an iPhone with 3.1.3 (hangs at first dial button push). Even dialling on an iPhone 4 will pause for a couple of seconds in the first two or three numbers. The free version seems to have less pauses but still does not run on an original iPhone. I did not try it on my iPod Touch 2G. I like the SIP traces, that is a good diagnostic feature but you could argue that it should not be required. Trying to use a bluetooth headset with it was also a failed experiment, it would not stay connected for some reason and would not pick up when I push the button on the headset. So in general the app works but it seems only on the newest phones. If you are looking for a business-ready app I would suggest you keep looking.
